As the İzmir-Muğla motorway does not pass through Ula, the town was relatively better preserved compared to similar other towns. Though somewhat neglected, beautiful examples of local architecture are still in use. Well, the aforementioned road went around Ula instead. The link roads were connected to this main road from both ends of Ula. Visibility by vehicles traveling at a speed of 100 km was the key input for the honey factory to be located on a property within the industrial zone between the two link roads, on the ‘other’ side of the road vis-à-vis Ula. We thus centered our ideas on a building of symbolic character providing both visibility and expressing the corporate identity of the factory. Instead of conventional doors and windows, we enveloped the building in a powerful shell recalling a honeycomb. The space between the building and its shell also creates shaded seating areas, an effect we desire, and also provides overall shade for the entire building.
