MAZI HOUSE [Olive Matrix]
Bodrum/Muğla ︎ 2005 ︎Construction Area: 270 m2 ︎ Site: 10.000 m2 ︎ Housing
︎ İbrahim Eyüp, Nevzat Sayın

Decked with olive trees planted at 8 meter-intervals on both sides, the property is sprawled across an old riverbed. Therefore, water can be abstracted at a depth of 1 m without even digging. This particular condition leads to the design of a building similar to a scaffold. A second grid at 4 meter-intervals set between the olive tree grids at 8 m intervals determines the layout by regarding both the building and the trees.  The owner can determine how to furnish the house as part of the pre-determined principles of design.  Connecting the posts set on point foundations at 4 m intervals is enough to create the building. Therefore, the name given to the building at the office is “Olive Matrix.”
