TLABAR HOUSE

The restoration of an old building makes it necessary to think not only for the new users of the building, but also for the new life of the building. And this necessity is where restorations differ most from new buildings. This building was an average building in terms of size, plan solutions, use of materials and details, showing similarities with the buildings of the same period in its neighbourhood and standing side by side with its twin. We tried to restore it without disturbing this characteristic. We did the restoration without knowing for whom we were doing it. It was as if the house was saying what it wanted to be. We listened to it. We tried to bring out what was in it as much as possible. We made the most intervention on the ground floor, where daily life would take place, and prepared the house for its new life. Just as we were finishing, we made sure that a friend of ours, who we were sure would be pleased to live in this house, bought the house.
